Meet Royce

Bio

Born in Australia but moved to the DC area as a child, Royce grew up learning in a Steiner Education model at the Washington Waldorf School before transferring to St. Johns to become a Cadet for High School. He loves to create art and music, plays the guitar, is a published writer, avid reader, animal lover, environmental activist and passionate athlete. But most of all he is a lifelong learner who aims to instill that same joy in his students.

Education Background

Royce studied Business Management at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and worked for Marriott Hotels for eight years. He then decided to pursue a career in education and earned a Masters in Elementary Education from UMBC in Catonsville.

Teaching Experience

Royce has been teaching for fourteen years in public, private and at-home settings. He is a certified teacher in Maryland at the K-8 level with a specialty in Middle School History and Social Studies.

In 2020, Royce left the classroom in order to work as a small group instructor for students learning at home. His small group learning model has been very successful in reaching diverse groups of mixed-aged elementary learners in Bethesda, Georgetown and at the Embassy of Panama. Learn more here.

Royce also tutors students from elementary through middle school in all the core subjects: math, language arts, writing, reading, science, health and social studies. He is available online as well as in person depending on location.
